Aino Klinikat Oy

The drive to Toijala wound through flat fields and clusters of birch trees, typical of Finland's Lakeland region. I arrived at Aino Klinikat on a crisp autumn morning, the air carrying a faint chill from nearby lakes. This medical spa felt tucked away, blending health treatments with sauna traditions. I had booked a SUOMAA peat sauna session, curious about its mix of Central European peat baths and Finnish sauna ways, rooted in insights from gynecologist Leena Larva.
Inside, the space was simple and welcoming, with a relaxation room that overlooked the surrounding nature. They offer services for folks with mobility needs too, like assisted peat saunas for 190 euros with two helpers. I opted for a solo session, drawn to how it stimulates lymph circulation for stress and pain relief.
Spreading the Warm Peat
The session started in a quiet room where I lay down for the peat application. The mixture felt thick and earthy against my skin, warming slowly as it drew out tension. They explained how this SUOMAA method lightens the body and mind, softens the skin, and even deepens sleep. I let it sink in for a bit, the scent earthy and grounding.
From there, I moved to the sauna itself. It was a traditional Finnish style, but with that peat twist. The heat built gently, not overwhelming, and I felt my muscles relax as sweat mixed with the residue. Capacity here tops out at eight people, but I had the space to myself that day, which made it feel personal.
Afterward, a quick shower rinsed off the peat, leaving my skin smooth. They have wheelchair access and showers on site, making it easy for anyone to join.
The Cold Plunge Under Open Sky
Stepping outside, I headed to the Avantopool cold plunge. The water bit sharp, a stark contrast to the sauna's warmth, but it woke me up in the best way. In warmer months, from May to October, they fire up a wood-heated tent sauna and a heated saltwater outdoor pool with a counter-current device for swimming. Water exercises add a fresh layer to the routine then.
I didn't try the infrared sauna or vibration training device this time, but they're available too. For pain, they might add low-level laser therapy or acupuncture, based on what you need. Small groups of up to eight can book sauna experiences in the Pirkanmaa and Uusimaa areas.
Lake access nearby tempted me for a walk afterward. The whole visit ran about an hour, though they tailor longer courses for weight management or ongoing care.
Lingering in the Relaxation Room
Back inside the relaxation room, I sipped water and let the effects settle. The place focuses on complementary treatments, like boosting lymph flow to ease stress and aches. It's not just a sauna spot: it's a spot for real recovery, blending nature and medical know-how.
As I left, the Lakeland landscape stretched out, dotted with lakes that mirror the sky. I felt lighter, senses sharpened, just as the description promised. Inquiries go through their phone lines, since they don't handle bookings by email.
