Havstua Sauna

The wind carried a salty chill as I walked along the shore in Florø, a quiet coastal town tucked into Norway's fjords. I had heard about this spot right at the water's edge, and there it was: a modern sauna on a floating dock, surrounded by rocks and waves. The setup looked simple yet inviting, shielded from the open sea.
I stepped inside, feeling the shift from the cool air to the building warmth. The place had room to change, with a large indoor area and two more spots outside. I slipped into my swimsuit and grabbed a towel, ready for what came next.
The Heat on the Dock
Inside the sauna, the wood benches waited under soft light. I sat down, and the heat started to wrap around me, steady and even. It was a good size, enough for a group if friends came along, or just right for some time alone.
After a while, sweat beaded on my skin. I stepped out to the dock, where a freshwater shower stood ready. A quick rinse cooled me off, and I filled a bottle from the tap nearby. The whole setup made it easy to move between sessions without much fuss.
Back in for another round, I thought about how the location tied everything together. The sea lapped at the edges, a constant reminder of the dips to come.
Into the Saltwater
The bathing ladder led straight down from the dock into the sea. I climbed in, the cold water a sharp contrast to the sauna's glow. It woke me up fast, waves gentle against my body. Floating there, I looked back at the structure, modern lines blending with the natural curve of the coast.
For something in between, three saltwater tubs sat nearby. I eased into one, the warm water soothing after the chill. These tubs let you switch from hot to cold without fully committing to the open sea each time. I lingered, letting the steam rise around me.
By the end of my visit, I had cycled through a few times: sauna, sea, tub, repeat. The spot worked well for that rhythm, whether you came solo or with others. As I dressed in the changing room, the fjord views lingered in my mind, a calm close to the day.
