Plugin Heat Club

The air felt crisp as I walked up to Plugin Heat Club on a quiet street in Amager. This part of Copenhagen mixes old warehouses with patches of green, and the spot sat right there, easy to reach with free parking on site. I had heard about their take on saunagus, blending it with cold dips and more, so I booked a spot for 250 DKK.

Inside, the changing rooms had lockable lockers, simple and clean. I slipped into my towel and headed to the lounge area, where a few others waited. The place felt welcoming, with toilets nearby and cold showers ready for later.

Our group gathered in the 25-person sauna, one of three they have, ranging up to 40 spots. The gusmestre, trained in classic saunagus along with breathwork and meditation, led us through the 75-minute flow. He guided us to breathe deep as the heat rose, not just the usual steam but mixed with coaching tips on focus.

Sweat built slowly at first, then stronger. We stepped out for breaks, hitting the cold showers to cool down. The gusmestre shared how this went beyond basic saunagus, tying in elements of cold water therapy. It felt different, like the heat and chill worked together to clear my mind.

Back in the sauna, the air grew thick with warmth. I noticed the ice machine nearby, prepping for what came next.

After the final heat round, we moved to the ice baths and cold water tubs outside the saunas. The water looked still and biting cold. I eased in, feeling the shock hit my skin right away.

The gusmestre encouraged steady breaths, drawing from his training in cold therapy. It stung at first, but then a calm settled in. Others in the group dipped too, some chatting softly in the lounge afterward. They run these sessions every day of the week, so it fits most schedules.

Stepping out, I grabbed a quick cold shower to rinse off. The whole thing left me refreshed, more than just warm and cold. As I changed back and headed to my car, the Amager streets felt a bit brighter.
