Spectrum Wellness

The rain had just let up as I walked along Bernstorffsgade, dodging puddles near the central station. Copenhagen's mix of bikes and hurried locals felt alive around me. I ducked into Spectrum Wellness at the Scandic hotel, ready for a Thursday evening session.
Inside, the space opened up with clean lines and soft lighting. I paid 350 DKK at the front desk for the 75-minute slot. The gusmester greeted us with a nod, explaining we'd have three rounds of heat with breaks in between.
The Scented Steam Rising
We settled into the sauna, a group of about ten, on wooden benches that warmed quickly. The gusmester poured water mixed with organic essential oils onto the hot stones. A cloud of scented steam filled the air, something like lavender and eucalyptus blending together.
He waved a towel to fan the steam around the room. The heat built in waves, wrapping around my skin in a gentle, aromatic hug. Each round lasted eight to ten minutes, just enough to feel the warmth sink deep without overwhelming.
I focused on my breathing as the scents relaxed my muscles. It was a simple ritual, but the technique made it feel thoughtful and precise.
Cooling Off in the Pool
After the first round, I stepped out for a ten-minute pause. The 25-meter heated pool stretched out invitingly, its water calm and warm. I swam a few slow laps, letting the water ease the heat from my body.
Nearby, the cold bath waited for those who wanted a sharper contrast. I tried it briefly, dipping in up to my shoulders. The chill shocked my senses, but it left me refreshed and ready for more.
Others lounged on the furniture or wandered through the experience shower walk, with its varying sprays and lights. I chose the pool again for the second break, floating quietly while the session's rhythm continued around me.
Winding Down the Last Wave
Back in the sauna for the final round, the gusmester repeated the process with a fresh batch of oils. The steam felt denser this time, carrying the day's stress away with each fan of the towel. I closed my eyes and let the warmth settle.
When it ended, I lingered in the lounge area, sipping water and reflecting on the visit. These sessions run on Mondays and Thursdays, a steady option in the city's wellness scene. The whole experience left me calm, with that post-sauna glow following me out into the evening streets.
