Arctic Tree House Hotel / Santapark Oy

Snow crunched under my boots as I walked up the hill to the Arctic TreeHouse Hotel in Rovaniemi. The air was crisp, carrying that sharp bite of Lapland winter, and the trees stood tall around the property. I had come for the saunas in their glass house cabins, drawn by the promise of heat amid the cold forest.
Checking in felt straightforward. The staff handed me a key to one of the Arctic GlassHouse cabins, mentioning the private sauna inside. I followed a short path through the woods, the cabin appearing like a modern nest perched on the slope. Inside, the space was cozy, with wood finishes and a large window overlooking the trees and sky.
Lighting the Stove
I started by firing up the sauna stove. The cabin's design kept things simple, with the sauna tucked into a corner, ready for use. Wood was stacked nearby, and soon the heat began to build, filling the small room with a dry warmth that chased away the chill from outside.
I sat on the bench, letting the temperature rise slowly. Through the window, I could see the forest stretching out, snow blanketing the ground. It was quiet, just the occasional crackle from the stove. After about twenty minutes, the heat felt right, and I stepped out to cool down on the cabin's deck, where the cold air hit my skin like a fresh slap.
Back inside, I repeated the cycle a couple more times. The sauna was part of the cabin's wellness setup, paired with a relaxation area nearby. I lounged there afterward, gazing at the northern sky, hoping for a glimpse of the lights, though none appeared that evening.
Dinner in the Main Building
Later, I headed to the hotel's restaurant for a meal. The walk back through the woods was short, and the place had a stylish feel, with design elements that blended nature and modern lines. They served dishes made from local ingredients, like reindeer and berries, in a space that looked out over the trees.
I ordered a simple plate, savoring the flavors after my sauna session. The restaurant was part of the hotel's services, open to guests, and it added a nice touch to the visit. Prices for the cabins started around 300 euros per night, including the sauna access, which made the stay feel worthwhile for a winter escape.
As I walked back to my cabin under the stars, the forest felt peaceful. Rovaniemi, being the capital of Finnish Lapland, sits right on the Arctic Circle, with easy access from the city center. That night, the combination of heat, food, and quiet left me relaxed, ready for whatever the next day might bring.
